Big Trees Kid Camping/Hiking Weekend at Big Basin SP

I'm squeezing in (at least) one more weekend camping adventure for the season! This park caught my eye and I reserved site #173S for the dates below. My plan is to head out after school (2:00 p.m.) on Friday arriving 5-6:00 p.m. I will lead a short kid friendly hike (and perhaphs geocache) Saturday leaving mid day Sunday.

To participate you will need to register for the event and reserve your own campsite ($35.00 per night) through the camp website:

http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=540

My site is in the[masked] loop (several other sites are currently available now).

If you are interested in sharing a site, please reserve a medium/large campsite and post the number of openings you have (8 people per site maximum) to the event message board. Please bring warm clothes and bedding for comfort.

For questions, please feel free to post to the message board, email or call me @[masked]-7173. Looking forward to a great weekend!!!!

Camping was great amazing, fellow campers were great. We had a super time and the kids played non-stop. We were lucky enough to experience the darling, smart & strong lil raccoons. They moved a large box off the ice chest and had a little snack at 4:00am.

I am thinking we could fit a sew more people on our site (180S). My sister will be there with her kids, making 7 in all - but the parks are usually more tolerant of littler kids (my daughter Morgan is only r), so we could go a little over the limit (plus my sister will only be staying for Saturday night).

Last-minute curiosity rears its ugly head! Anyone still hanging onto an extra half-site? I have two middle schoolers.

For personal reasons, I plan on being there Saturday only. Is there anyone else who is interested in car pooling (and share driving!) with me on Saturday morning? We will return late Saturday night. Can accommodate +2 in comfy SUV.

We can- I drive a 4-door truck, obviously has a lot of room in the bed ( no shell /cover) I'm not the greatest at packing but I'm sure we can fit, even including firewood.

Just reserved site 180S. There will be me and my 2 kids (4 year old Morgan and 9 year old Kevin). I may open this up for others to share, but my sister may join me on this site, so I need to check with her first.

I just checked and it looks like there are only 7 sites still available in our loop for these dates.

Hmmm... Sounds SO FUN! I grew up in the South Bay and went here all the time. Its gorgeous. Anyone want to share a site for 2 nites? I'm thinking site #174 or #172? It would just be me and my two boys and we have one small tent.

Hey Amy - my advice would be to reserve the biggest spot in the loop There is a high probability someone will RSVP late in the game and be up for sharing the site. You would just need to be ok with covering it on your own worst case. Hope that helps and that you can make it. :)
