Are We All Still Here

I'm curious if anyone is still actively participating in or following this group. The group seems to have gone dormant. My sincere interest is in fostering tea and presence amongst similarly intentioned people. It would be rewarding to me to share tea space with others whom are committed or new drinkers of tea. I primarily drink tea (greens, silver, wulongs, red teas, and puerh; including teas from Korea, Japan, Taiwan, etc.) and not herbal tisanes. Though my wife enjoys herbal tisanes and flavored teas as well estate teas.

As I have posted here before, we have a small tea garden with a separate tea deck in our backyard for drinking tea that is still waking from its dormancy into this early Spring. But, as weather becomes clear and warm the space is available to brew tea for 3 or 4 people. In our home we also have a devoted tea room that is more of a personal setting meant for no more than three guests, ideally 1 or 2 guests. In the tea room we have the setup to brew water from coals in a Japanese hibachi or to brew using a Bonavita kettle. The seating is on the floor using a zafu and zabuton combination. As well, with the blossoms and green returning, the group can meet to share tea outdoors in a beautiful setting like Land Park.

In our home we practice and study tea as an enriching life practice. My wife is Taiwanese and I previously lived in Taiwan. Each year I study tea in Taiwan with my teacher and will be leaving for Taiwan in late Spring to spend a month with my teachers there for tea and other disciplines, as well as to source more tea from various Taiwanese farmers and vendors. After I return, I'm certain there will be much to share.

I'm curious if there are others whom are wanting to rekindle the group or begin to meet outside of it to share in the gifts of tea practice.

I'll track this discussion and watch for any alerts and try to respond to anyone whom has something to put forward.

Hi, Scott:

The group hasn't been active in a while, in part because of my schedule and in part due to the lack of venues for meetups, especially since Hina's closed. Thank you for offering to open up your space for small gatherings. If you'd like, I could make you an assistant organizer so that you can set up meetups, whether at your house or elsewhere. At the same time, I wouldn't want you to feel obligated to opening up your home every time just to make a meetup happen.

Likewise, If others in the group have ideas for meetups or would like to become assistant organizers, please let me know.

Greetings! Somehow I missed this old message.

I hope you are well. I am open to being an assistant organizer and putting together some tea times. We have redone the interior of our home where we now have three spaces to sit for meditation or tea. I also returned from my spring tea buying trip to Taiwan this past June with many new teas. We are open to hosting people in our home for tea. In fact, this is already taking place with friends and acquaintances dropping in for tea here.

Perhaps you and I could meet at the house for tea and look at some options for the group or future meetups. Please let me know if you have time to get together.
