Volunteer to plant trees with the Sacramento Tree Foundation

  • Oct 17, 2009 · 9:00 AM

Volunteers will be adding 50 new trees to the area around Marysville Rd and Rio Linda (exact address to tba). Some of the holes for these trees will already be augured so the planting should run quickly and smoothly. You will learn how to properly plant, simple tree id and much more. These trees will work to provide the area with much needed shade as well as develop new habitat for animals that live in the surrounding space. Please dress comfortably, wear closed toed shoes and bring along a water bottle!

This is an ideal volunteer opportunity, especially when the weather is wonderful. Our impact on the landscape -- and the surrounding community -- is tangible, immediate and lasting. Working the soil with others, for the sake of the environment and those living in it, is a great embodiment of humanist values. Thank you Rachael! Hope that there will be more events like this to come!

I hear that, coincidentally, the Sac City Freethinkers group is planning to volunteer that day too.
