Blasphemy Breakfast - Rocklin

Do you like to hang out with local like-minded people? Want a chance to get to know FANs in smaller groups? Or do you just get hungry on Sunday mornings?  JOIN US at Mel's Diner for what we call our "Blasphemy Breakfast", not that we blaspheme that much, but atheist-related topics are known to come up at times.

This is a great event to start with, if you haven't been to SacFAN Meetup events before. Also a great group of people to answer any atheist questions you might have, help you learn more about all the freethinking goings-on in the region, or help you any way we can. It's always a breath of fresh air to have brunch with like-minded friends. And we'll surely be friends once we've met you.

I recommend their malts, omelets, biscuits n gravy, and grilled cheese. It's all good. And everyone's friendly here.

Similar Blasphemy Brunches are held in other areas around Sacramento. Check the SacFAN calendar for their details.  Also, you can subscribe to Sacramento Reason, the free, online monthly newsletter, at http://www.sacramentoreason.org, to see more details and info.

Are kids welcome or is this an adult only shin dig?

Oh, sure, bring the kids along! Mel's is a very family-friendly place, and our blasphemy breakfast bunch are always glad to see all ages come out for a waffle or two! Nice of you to ask... :-)

Unfortunately I probably won't make the Dec. 15 brunch as I will be returning from Fort Bragg for a celebration of my mother's 90th birthday! At least, while over there, I also hope to find some edible mushrooms...

Edible mushrooms, huh? Have we found the secret to why your mother is 90? Have a fun trip! See you when you can make it...

Edible - but not the woo-woo kind, and NOT the poisonous ones! I specialize in finding "Boletus edulis", "Cantharellus cibarius," "Coprinus comatus." Every fall the mushroom buyer sets up tent along Highway 20 before you get into town. This is a big thing there since most of the trees have been cut down and there are serious restrictions on salmon fishing, etc. If you go to Fort Bragg, you can find local wild mushrooms this season in Harvest Market. Not cheap.
