Movie: Girl Rising

SOLD OUT: But other showings are:

Sept. 30, 7:30pm at Arden Fair 6, TICKETS HERE.

Oct. 10, 7:30pm at Tower Theater, TICKETS HERE.

One girl with courage is a revolution! See Girl Rising; stories of 9 extraordinary girls from 9 countries, showing their strength and the power of education to change the world. We need 98 more tickets reserved for this showing to be locked in. I've seen this film - it's powerful. Please tell your friends!

"This film gives visual corroboration to knowledge we already have: Educating women and girls has the most optimistic, positive effects on families, communities, and economies worldwide", Meryl Streep. And who is the most against educating girls? Religions. But, this film doesn't go there. It just shows the impact one girl can have. Very inspirational.

I am here. It's in theatre 8. They're not checking tickets. Only half the theatre is filled up.

They clearly didn't want to target any religion, in fact kept religion out of the film. They didn't mince words though about the impact of the Taliban on girls on Afghanistan. I agree with that approach. If they are going to criticize Islam, there's also PLENTY to say about Christianity and girls, ie "legitimate" rape, women who testify about contraception being called prostitutes, 11 year old Mormon girls being forcibly married to old dudes, etc. You know, modem American society.

I guess they are afraid to touch religion bc it could hurt fundraising. Same old fears as always.
