Activism - Sac City SSA asked for help

The Sac City Freethinkers is asking for a secular group to come on campus next Monday and Tuesday. "Project Truth" people will be on campus. They're the anti-abortion group with the big disgusting dead fetuses display.

The student group decided that instead of a pro-choice group coming to counter them, a secular group would be better. The reasoning is that a pro-choice group just makes this a left/right political argument. But a secular group could point out that Project Truth is really just a fundamentalist religious group and if there is no god, they have no grounds for their argument.

Please help us provide some small-t truth. This is not arguing abortion issues, this is arguing separation of church and state.  We need voices to point out that anti-abortion should remain a personal decision without the interference of religion-based laws.

We have been asked to wear "Ask an Atheist" t-shirts (fine if you'd rather not). To get a shirt, message me through SacFAN and I'll deliver on Saturday morning or later afternoon, or we can arrange something.  Not a problem. It's worth it.  You should have your own, anyway, just sayin'.

Instead of all of us appearing together, this activism event has been spread out to better provide more presence during the entire two days they'll be there.  See Don's comment below.  So, get your shirt over the weekend and let Don know when you expect to provide activism coverage, or ask Don when they need more coverage.  Don's number is [masked].

It's our first counter activism (that I know of), but surely not the last. Please lend your presence, and report back!

Parking is in the back lots for visitors.

PARKING: Parking at SCC is $1 per full day. Last I checked, the daily permit machines accepted cash only. The visitor spaces have a 30 minute time limit on them.

Parking can be a heinous activity here. Finding a spot in the large parking areas isn't difficult, but expect lots of stop and go at the worst rush times.

Here's a map that includes locations of the permit machines:

I have early classes on Sept. 9, so I can't make it that day, but I plan on being at Sac State on Sept. 10.

Getting the colleges mixed up? Be sure you go to Sac CITY College, 3835 Freeport Blvd. (Not sac state) Thanks for your help, Randy!

I need a size medium "ask an atheist" T-shirt. I have yet to make it to an ask an atheist event, work or something always gets in the way. I am determined to make this event though! :)

I'll keep you posted, Randy. I never would leave a heathen, atheist blasphemer out in the cold on their own. Check back here.

    Time Correction:
The Project Truth group is scheduled to be on the SCC campus Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 9 and 10. There is not a set time, but we figure they'll be there most of the day — 10 to 4 – as they have in the past. Student club members will be hanging out by their display in Ask An Atheist shirts, but not all day long, both days, necessarily. We're doing as available. So, the same goes for any of you... show up, do your thing as long as you can, and leave when you need to. There is no formal required process to be on campus for such a thing — it's an open public space. Their display will be somewhere in the quad area, center of campus. You'll just have to look for them, shouldn't be too hard to find. If you can, give me a call and let me know when you'll be there. 916.396.1134. I'll be on campus both days, and in the quad myself part of both days.

Can anyone who knows Sac City help with a meeting location? If anyone knows a public parking lot available after 6:00 pm, let me know. Otherwise, I'll drive over there or Google street view to find a spot and let everyone know over the weekend.

I'll post a location here when I hear of a good spot to meet up. Suggestions, anyone?
