Book Club: Godless

We'll be discussing Godless: How an Evangelical Preacher Became One of America's Leading Atheists by Dan Barker (nonfiction - biography).

Atheists are the last of the minorities in America to come out of the closet, and like other civil rights movements this one began with leaders like Dan Barker and his Freedom from Religion Foundation defending the civil liberties of godless Americans, who deserve equal protection under the Constitution. In his new book, Godless, Barker recounts his journey from evangelical preacher to atheist activist, and along the way explains precisely why it is not only okay to be an atheist, it is something in which to be proud.

Available on Amazon.

Come with a few thoughts/ideas about the book to discuss!

About the Venue
The Coffee Garden is a little coffee shop just off Broadway and 99. If the weather's nice, we're probably in the big table in the garden through the back door. Otherwise we're on the couches right inside the front door.

They serve all sorts of coffees and drinks, sodas, and a wide variety of sandwiches and salads perfect for dinner if you choose. They appreciate it if you at least buy a drink/pastry.

Please be courteous and do not bring outside food or drinks.

Arrrgh!! Sorry, my wife has me on "probation" tonight and has me scheduled for something else. Being that discretion is the better part of valor in this case, I must pass on this one. See you next month!! (I have the book.)

I waited three years and am now reading this book. I can see why it changed many people's attitudes. He is very thorough, and I am enjoying reading it. Look forward to the discussion.
