Book Club: Towing Jehovah

We'll be discussing Towing Jehovah by James Morrow (fiction - fantasy).

God is dead, and Anthony Van Horne must tow the corpse to the Arctic (to preserve Him from sharks and decomposition). En route Van Horne must also contend with ecological guilt, a militant girlfriend, sabotage both natural and spiritual, and greedy hucksters of oil, condoms, and doubtful ideas

Available on Amazon, Thriftbooks (used books, free shipping) or through Sac Library.

Come with a few thoughts/ideas about the book to discuss!

About the Venue
The Coffee Garden is a little coffee shop just off Broadway and 99. If the weather's nice, we're probably in the big table in the garden through the back door. Otherwise we're on the couches right inside the front door.

They serve all sorts of coffees and drinks, sodas, and a wide variety of sandwiches and salads perfect for dinner if you choose. They appreciate it if you at least buy a drink/pastry.

Please be courteous and do not bring outside food or drinks.

Unfortunately I won't be able to make the meeting tonight. I was stung by a bee yesterday and don't want to make the drive to sacramento on pain killers. I look forward to seeing everyone next month! :)

It would be great if the host of this event could remind everyone about Sacramento Freethought Day (Oct 12) and to register at :)

If you want more fiction, I suggest we have a) more fiction and that b) we make sure that the first book in January is fiction to make up for this one, k?

I know Rachael, me too! I really wanted to be here for it. However, I promise I'll be back by October. And remember, we choose next year's books in October!
