Crafty Atheists

Do you knit, crochet, scrapbook, paint, sculpt, glue things to other things or any other kind of crafty hobby?

How about we meet at my place and have drinks and crafty time in a casual, friendly setting.

I have a large house with plenty of room for crafty projects. Hot chocolate, a fireplace and creativity. Yay!

Let me know if anyone is interested in doing this In November. If the first one is good, maybe a semi-regular thing?

(My house in in South Sac.)

And if you are not crafty and just want to hang out, that is cool too :-)

The neighborhood was quiet and friendly. There was adequate parking for the event. The hosts were lovely. Those who didn't come missed out!

I haven't been crafty for years but maybe if I come and hang out at the next one, some of your craftiness will rub off.

I am kinda crafty, but I will not be attending. My crafts require spray paint, saws, molten metal or workbenches. I do want to say this is fanastic. Thank you for hosting this, Rowan!

Thank you, thank you. I love scrap booking in groups but they are often dominated by someone who feels the spirit and needs tell us all about it.

Damn, I have an out of town job that day or i'd come to the Expo. I've gone to the one in Pleasanton and it was so much fun.

Ooops, not sure how that got posted twice.

Pot luck style is awesome :-)
I will have some cheeeeeese and goodies but you are welcome to bring what you like. Especially drinks- we are almost exclusively tea drinkers and usually ill prepared for guests who like anything else. I'll make hot apple cider.... yums.

Hello, this sounds inviting, but it's not a particularly good date for me as I have a show early in November and am going to teach some classes Nov. and Dec. in the area + another event that weekend. I design, make, and sell different types of jewelry, (not torchwork) have for many years, even longer than I worked at my occupation. I am new to FAN and have not been able to make it to many events as I am in the Yuba-Sutter area on a small farmstead with rescued and home-grown animals, old vehicles, and lots to do!!

Perhaps people could share their their knowledge or skills with others at these get-togethers? I am a member of a women's creative circle up here and we share and collaborate and have 2 shows a year.

Hello, Karla, Honestly speaking, I would be more likely to attend than host an event, due to time demands and a certain chronic illness I have that can sap my energy. The Women's Creative Circle is having an art/craft show3 Nov. 1, 4-7pm at St. Andrews Church in YC, Nov. 2, 9-3pm same location, in conjunction with the church people who will have different things to offer such as baked goods, etc. We are mostly art/crafters, including one woman who welds and combines glass into outstanding sculptures, precious metal clay, hand-painted cups/plates, watercolors, pressed flower items, etc.etc. My own things are different enough from the usual that they draw attention and sometimes sales! I'd say, the usual, the unusual, the unexpected....

I also know how to do needle-woven necklaces.

I joined this meet-up thing a few years ago. I've never
actually gone to any of the events. They were either too
far away or seemed to be an established group. It's
hard to break into a group where everybody knows
each other. I'm a little nervous.

Crafty Atheists! Yay! That is why I joined this website.

Catherine I hope you will come to Coffee Church: Vespers this Sunday? It might not be near you but it is easy to get to and find. It is a NEW group and fluid. I've found that with the SAC-Fan events, there is no snobbery or cliquishness (Is that even a word?) but at least the ones I've attended someone will make sure to talk to the new people and make them feel welcome. I just hate to think of you not attending things out of shyness or social anxiety because many of us SHARE those feelings. Rowan won't be attending this Sunday or else you could meet her there but Susan Lo is! And you could meet ME! And then you will know several people ha ha.

LOL as I learned with Coffee Church: Vespers and the Ungodly Hour, there is no way to accommodate everyone's schedule who might be super interested in coming otherwise. There is a LOT of interest in the fabric arts, yarn arts, etc; and it looks like we are finally taking a stand and forming groups where we don't have to pray before picking up our needles! Ha ha! Looking forward to this one!

Darn! Next time I'll check my calendar first. Sorry I can't make it on the 9th.. Hope you all have fun! I will be checking for reviews and..pictures?

I'm looking forward to meeting other yarn-aholics. But please keep in mind for future events - there is a craft group which meets on the 2nd Saturday of each month. It would be great if this group selected any other Saturday if this becomes routine.

    1 · October 25, 2013

    • Catherine R.

The time I'm seeing for the Kraftmania group is 12-3pm on the second Saturday. I don't see a time conflict for this event.

      October 25, 2013

  • Chris S.

Wow - great idea. I'd love to come but 11/9 we are doing craft classes for 4H in Yuba City and won't be back in time. Please keep me in mind for future date. I reread the time dates and times?? - I definately can make Nov 10.
