Camping at Jackson Meadows Reservoir (near Sierraville, CA)

  • August 5, 2011 · 12:00 PM

RSVP's Close for this event Tuesday August 2nd at 8PM. If you want to participate, now is the time.

There are still spots left for what will be a great camping experience. Come on people, step out of your comfort zone and get-a-way for the weekend. It'll be fun. Come join the group of fabulous and fun loving non-believers.

This is a cooperative event with Greater Sacramento Single Atheists.

Come join us for a relaxing weekend of High Sierra camping. Jackson Meadows Reservoir is approximately 2 hours from Sacramento off Hwy 89 near Sierraville, CA. The beautiful lake provides fishing, swimming, boating, hiking or just plain relaxing. The surrounding area is also great for 4 wheeling. At around 6000' elevation we can expect sunny days and cool (maybe cold) nights. We will be there from Friday afternoon, August 5th thru Sunday afternoon, August 7th. If you can't make it both nights, please rsvp for Saturday, August 6th. I will be going up early on Friday with another member. The plan is to be there by noon. You are invited to arrive from noon on. I will email a map and detailed directions to all who are participating.

Here is a link worth going to: http://www.google.com/search?q=photos+of+jackson+meadows+reservoir&hl=en&biw=1600&bih=761&prmd=ivns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=cnMKTv7CKojWiALqtN3UAQ&sqi=2&ved=0CBoQsAQ

I will be providing all the meals and beverages (except for alcoholic beverages)

The menus will be meals like chicken and beef fajitas, hotdogs and hamburgers, bratwurst, sandwiches, assorted side dishes and pancakes. I will also be providing an assortment of cold cereal and munchies (chips, dips, smores, cookies).

I also will be bringing a large supply of firewood for those cool evenings and mornings.

You will need to provide your own tent and sleeping gear (don't forget your pillow), toiletries, and personal items (be sure to bring some warm clothes as it can get very cold at night and in the early morning) and a coffee cup if you drink coffee. You may also want to bring your own camp chair. I also recommend you bring a flashlight. If you have any table games or card games to share that would also be a great thing to bring.

The cost for this weekend is going to be approximately $52 - $66, with $26 due when you rsvp. Please send your payment to: Julie Roemer, 8037 Fair Oaks Blvd., Ste 114, Carmichael, CA 95608. Balance due to be determined after all the shopping is done. Balance to be paid to me in cash when you arrive.

I will be coordinating the transportation to Jackson Meadows closer to the event as we are limited on how many cars we can have in the campground.

If you don't have a tent and want to participate, please let me know and I can probably team you up with someone that does.

Please come out for the weekend, get away from the heat, the city...it'll be fun.

Julie & friends certainly put together a great long weekend in the Sierras. I had a chance to meet some new friends and see how car camping w/tents can be done in style. Average age north of middle. A mix of personalities & approx. even M/F balance. I'd rate it success and would like to try it again once more before it gets cold. Just a few minor rough spots, 'cause some of us never met before. Everybody worked & played together, though.

If you happen to be a member of both Sac Fan and Greater Sac Single Atheists...Please don't rsvp on both groups calendar's. It makes the count inaccurate...Thanks for your attention.
