Book Club: The Year of Living Biblically

We'll be discussing The Year of Living Biblically: One Man's Humble Quest to Follow the Bible as Literally as Possible by A.J. Jacobs (nonfiction - culture/humor):

Raised in a secular family but increasingly interested in the relevance of faith in our modern world, A.J. Jacobs decides to dive in headfirst and attempt to obey the Bible as literally as possible for one full year. He vows to follow the Ten Commandments. To be fruitful and multiply. To love his neighbor. But also to obey the hundreds of less publicized rules: to avoid wearing clothes made of mixed fibers; to play a ten-string harp; to stone adulterers. His beard grows so unruly that he is regularly mistaken for a member of ZZ Top. He immerses himself in prayer, tends sheep in the Israeli desert, battles idolatry, and tells the absolute truth in all situations - much to his wife's chagrin

Available on Amazon or through Sac Library.

Come with a few thoughts/ideas about the book to discuss!

About the Venue
The Coffee Garden is a little coffee shop just off Broadway and 99. If the weather's nice, we're probably in the big table in the garden through the back door. Otherwise we're in the separate room off to the left when you come in the front door.

They serve all sorts of coffees and drinks, sodas, and a wide variety of sandwiches and salads perfect for dinner if you choose. They appreciate it if you at least buy a drink/pastry.

Please be courteous and do not bring outside food or drinks.

Hi, do you mind if I come out? I'm only in the area for this week but would like to hear about this read.

    Van,
We don't mind at all, you are welcome to come, however, we generally ask that for the book club meetings we keep the conversations mostly on topic as to the book we read (Though Doctor Who and the Star Wars holiday special are always on topic)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
