Book Club: Unholy Night

NOTE: Please add suggested titles for 2014 here so I can add to our master list, or bring a copy! We'll be discussing our 2014 book club selections tonight.

Please note that the originally scheduled Q&A session with Sex & God author Darrel Ray has been cancelled.

We'll be discussing Unholy Night by Seth Grahame-Smith (fiction - action/fantasy):

They're an iconic part of history's most celebrated birth. But what do we really know about the Three Kings of the Nativity, besides the fact that they followed a star to Bethlehem bearing strange gifts? The Bible has little to say about this enigmatic trio. But leave it to Seth Grahame-Smith, the brilliant and twisted mind behind Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies to take a little mystery, bend a little history, and weave an epic tale.

Available on Amazon, Thriftbooks (used books, free shipping) or through Sac Library.

Come with a few thoughts/ideas about the book to discuss!

About the Venue
The Coffee Garden is a little coffee shop just off Broadway and 99. If the weather's nice, we're probably in the big table in the garden through the back door. Otherwise we're in the separate room off to the left when you come in the front door.

They serve all sorts of coffees and drinks, sodas, and a wide variety of sandwiches and salads perfect for dinner if you choose. They appreciate it if you at least buy a drink/pastry.

Please be courteous and do not bring outside food or drinks.

Hi all, two reminders: 1) If you have a book you'd like to consider reading next year, please submit here: http://www.meetup.com/SacFAN/messages/boards/thread/38047042 so I can add to the master list.

    2) The Q&A session originally scheduled for after the book club meetup has been cancelled, so we WILL be discussing our books for next year.

Just finished the book. I have a feeling we are all going to say the same thing when we meet Monday. But of course I can wait til then so everyone has a chance to read the book.
In the meantime, I hope it's not a spoiler to say the grossest image for me were the pus-oozing lesions.

I just ordered the book. Let's hope it gets here in time for me to read it. Otherwise I'll just listen and drink coffee.

As an FYI, it's a bit gory/violent, so if that bothers you...
