Ask an Atheist at FREE "California State of Mind" Film, Discussion & Inspiration

First we'll screen the one-hour film, "California State of Mind", seeing how one person, in this case our Governor at the time, pushed against the tide, facing insurmountable obstacles in the cataclysmic 60s to shape a visionary future he believed in. (Remind you of any other group now fighting the tide?) This film has the power to ignite optimism and provide a template for what we can and should expect from leaders today, followed by a panel discussion of what we can and should expect from ourselves. IMDb gives this documentary 9.6 stars out of 10. Sponsored by California Watch (a project of the Center for Investigative Reporting), wanting to re-energize bi-partisan can-do optimism, and re-energize a critical dialogue.

Early reception 5:30 - 6:30. Film screening and panel discussion begin at 7:00.

Wear your "Ask an Atheist" t-shirt to this event, to provide visibility of atheism that challenges the common misperception of atheists as unpatriotic, unconcerned and untrustworthy. We are fellow citizens who also care about our future and the future for our fellow man. The more we become visible the more the public will come to really know us and trust us. To buy your $10 bright blue shirt, contact Judy at judysnt (at) gmail (dot) com, or find me at the event. Or, just come sit with us if you see us.

    1. Large influential crowd all saw the two of us not wearing suits, but instead bright blue Ask an Atheist t-shirts. We sat right up front. 2. The film and panel discussion were totally inspiring for anyone looking to fight the establishment. 3. Good company.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
