Sunday 9:00am ~ Lake Natoma - Nimbus Flats OWS

Swim at Nimbus or Cold Water Acclimation

Meet at: 9:00am at the large viewing platform *see photo and map below

Distance: Swim as short or long as you like

Water temp will likely be around 60 / 65 degrees F

Wetsuits are recommended for those who have not been swimming in the open water this Winter.  Since the water is still cold it's recommended you are an experienced swimmer or have done some open water swimming.

If you are acclimating to cold water here are a few tips:

Bring something hot to drink right before and right after

Bring warm dry clothing you can change into right after your swim.

Don't stay in too long if you are really cold :-)

Some athletes like to wear neoprene caps when getting used to cold water.

*note if there are no rsvps by day before I will likely take it off the system so pls rsvp if you plan on attending :-)

Meet here in the photo below ~

Shawn's awesome illustration map on where to park and where to meet!

*No lifeguard will be on duty. This meetup is swim at your own risk.

Patricia - thx for making me feel welcome, comfortable in the cold water and for helping me with wetsuit. I finally made it to dock and back and forth. Was a great swim until it got a bit crowded with kids. ;). Will be back next week!

Just swam the 400 meter crew course here at Nimbus. Think my arms are going to fall off. Nice and quiet until I got back to aquatic area. Nice swim.

Gonna sit this one out. Still pretty tired from the golden gate bridge swim yesterday.

Looking forward to swimming with ya'll on Sunday. A little nervous because this will only be my second time in open water but I'm also incredibly excited. See you Sunday morning!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
