Protest Marine Captivity & Animal Abuse at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, Vallejo

"Blackfish" has brought national attention to marine captivity and animal abuse at amusement parks across our country. On Sunday, February 16, Sea World will be holding a mass protest, educating the public of Southern California of these atrocities. Our protest will be held to educate the public of Northern California of the marine enslavement and recurring abuse taking place in our own backyard. Please contact Tina with any questions and/or to arrange carpooling. (916)[masked]

I don't remember everyones' names, but I wanted to mention that I enjoyed VERY MUCH talking and protesting with the couple and the young lady near the parking lot who I was with all day! Also a mom who brought the BRIGHT PINK AND COLORFUL SIGN and her daughter (talked about the key chain idea)! Nice and compassionate people! We need you for the next protest! Sorry, I wanted to get names before I left but was tired and forgot to ask. We really accomplished a lot! Orcas, dolphins and all are the others in captivity NEED our voice!

    (1) Where are we going to meet up?
    (2) I would recommend bringing a camera. Video cameras especially may come in handy.
    (3) Here are the Six Flags rules for public assembly. They refer to an attached map, but there isn’t a map attached.

Also, see the reference below (the local Vallejo newspaper) that the park’s guidelines for public assembly may infringe free-speech rights. It’s an older article though (2006), so don’t know if its information is still applicable. http://www.timesheraldonline.com/ci_3860108 See also this posting by Deniz Bolbol, who was at the first Marine World protest I ever attended:

Wendy, I just thought to get on In Defense of Animals and realized they have all the details on their site and I imagine PETA will have details on their site too. You can get on IDA and see the info for yourself. You can also RSVP with them too, if you want. Just a little reassurance, . . . Hope to see you.

Does anyone know where to park? I will park in Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, if I don't hear from anyone. I don't think it's that expensive, so just bring some cash. God Bless! I am also bringing the anger/sadness I feel at the treatment of these MAGNIFICENT and HIGHLY INTELLIGENT ANIMALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tina Marie, Sorry for all the "back and forth"! I have my ride and I will be there. I will have two posters so someone can borrow one. My dad is almost done with the book by David Kirby and he is so disappointed in Sea World and so sad for the Orcas! He said the book Death At Sea World is amazing! It is, indeed, a good book! See you!!!

Sorry all. Wanted to go but I don't my driving partner and it's further away than Sac. John said he will go with me to most protests in the future including those in Vallejo or San Francisco. I hope you have a passionate protest and illuminate the public. Please tell as many people as possible to read Death At Sea World by David Kirby so they can READ FOR THEMSELVES what cruelty these great, intelligent animals go through. Sorry again and hope to meet Tina Marie and others at a future event. God Bless!

Thank you for organizing this important event. If you ever wonder if protesting for the animals makes a difference, consider how many more vegans there are now and, something I did not think I'd see in my life time, big experimental labs making plans to no longer use chimpanzees- they state there are other non animal alternatives. You all make a difference!
