Protest the Gold Country Pro-Rodeo

Please join in protesting the Gold Country Pro- Rodeo. Rodeos are known for their inhumane practices and cruelty to horses, bulls, calves and sometimes sheep. Many of the animals used for this form of "entertainment" are usually very young and are very scared. Please take a stand with us and educate the public on this archaic and unnecessary event.
This is a two day event and support for both days would be greatly appreciated.

Saturday April 26th from 2:30-4:30pm

Sunday April 27th. from 10 am - 12pm

Times listed are just before gates open, so that we can make sure we reach everyone.
Parking is $6 so carpooling is highly recommended. Please make sure you wear comfortable clothes, stay hydrated and bring a positive attitude.
Some signs will be provided. Bringing your own signs is highly encouraged.
To get more detailed info and videos on the cruelty of rodeos you can check out this site:

This is so appropriate for what we're dealing with:
"All truth passes through three stages:
    First it is Ridiculed.
    Second, it is Violently Opposed.
Third, it is Accepted as being Self-Evident."

Thanks for clarifying. I tried to post a photo. Hope you get to see it. I wish we could leaflet or some such activity maybe weeks before rodeos (Auburn, Folsom, wherever) to get citizens in these smaller communities to join us. Maybe they can get rodeos banned in those specific areas.... I dream on....

Marilyn, everyone there wasn't there through Meetup. That's why it shows only 5 when there were over twice that many. :)

I believe we had 12 people there--not 5. Would have been great to have more.

For good sign ideas, just google “Anti-Rodeo ____” (fill in the blank with slogans, signs, quotes), and you’ll get some good, creative ideas. Below are some old, tried and true sign messages. Big letters are better. See you tomorrow from 2:30 to 4:30!

Thanks, Adrienne. I needed a little chuckle before bed. O:=

Yes, all you can do is laugh at that. And it shows what a difference speaking out for the animals can make.

I stand on Auburn Folsom Rd where the main gate is (across from the Bernhard Museum) It is the intersection of Racetrack St. and Auburn Folsom. You can park on Racetrack sometimes on the residential side. The other entrance isn't used as much, if at all because all of the parking is off of Auburn Folsom. There is a 7-11 or Circle K store there. I'm so glad this is on Meetup. Thanks so much Adrienne!

This is an important one to protest--it almost died this year, but one stock provider brought it back. It's important to know EXACTLY where to meet as there are two entrances to the fair grounds. A few years ago, Auburn Folsom Road was the best place to walk with the signs (not inside the parking lot). The other entrance is on High Street., so it would be good to nail down one location (unless hundreds show up...maybe we'd have enough to cover both fair ground entrances!).
    Thanks for organizing it.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
