The community of Orangevale, Calif., has reportedly scheduled a "Pee Wee Rodeo" to take place on May 19 during its annual Pow Wow Days celebration
. During this event, children between the ages of 2 and 9 will participate several activities, including "Goat Ribbon Untying," in which participants will frantically pursue a goat in an attempt to grab and untie a ribbon attached to the animal's tail, and "Goat Tying," in which children between the ages of 5 and 9 will chase down a goat, flip the animal on his or her back, and tie three of the animal's legs together.
Being chased and subjected to rough handling, crowds, and loud noises is a terrifying (and easily injurious) ordeal for these animals, who have no opportunity to escape or defend themselves.
Please urge the Orangevale Chamber of Commerce to cancel these cruel events. And spread this alert far and wide!
