I received the same email from PETA and this is what I emailed the chamber regarding this horrid event:

To whom this may concern,

I was shocked and disappointed to hear about orangevale; the city I grew up in, planning this pee wee rodeo where children are enlisted in chasing down scared animals in order to win a prize.

My children and I are vegans because I've raised my children to have compassion for animals and all living species. These animals are forced to endure severe abuse from the hands of unsuspecting children; unaware that the animals they are to chase after and catch are under severe stress and extremely scared. This event is nothing more than legalized animal abuse.

These animals are being used and abused for this event for nothing more than entertainment purposes. This is not entertaining for the animals involved in this event.

Please think of the animals for a moment and how terrified they will be if this event goes forward. Think for a moment if this was your family pet that was being used and abused for "fun" with no regard to their feelings.

We must speak out for the animals as they have no voice to defend themselves. Please consider finding other HUMANE options of entertaining people that doesn't include the use of live animals.

Animals feel pain the way people do., please consider compassion over entertainment.

Thank you,
Natasha Sirugo

Thank you for this alert.  I will write a letter to the OV CofC and Wells Fargo.  I tried to call them, but they're closed on Fridays.
Let's hit this hard, far, and wide.
Marilyn

Action Alert

Animals need your voice
Dear Reyna,
The community of Orangevale, Calif., has reportedly scheduled a "Pee Wee Rodeo" to take place on May 19 during its annual Pow Wow Days celebration. During this event, children between the ages of 2 and 9 will participate several activities, including "Goat Ribbon Untying," in which participants will frantically pursue a goat in an attempt to grab and untie a ribbon attached to the animal's tail, and "Goat Tying," in which children between the ages of 5 and 9 will chase down a goat, flip the animal on his or her back, and tie three of the animal's legs together.
Being chased and subjected to rough handling, crowds, and loud noises is a terrifying (and easily injurious) ordeal for these animals, who have no opportunity to escape or defend themselves.
Please urge the Orangevale Chamber of Commerce to cancel these cruel events. And spread this alert far and wide!
Please call and send polite comments to:
