Need calls to help pass SB1229 (anti debarking & declawing)

Thanks to your calls and emails, SB 1229, the bill to prohibit landlords from requiring that dogs be debarked and cats be declawed as a condition of tenancy, has been approved by the state legislature and is on its way to the governor for signature.

Debarking and declawing are painful, barbaric practices. Excessive barking and scratching are behaviors that can be easily, effectively and humanely addressed through training and training products. No landlord should need to require such extreme measures in order to ensure that tenants are responsible and do not allow their cats or dogs to damage property or create a nuisance.

There is just one more step to make this important reform a reality. Please make a brief call to Governor Brown’s office today at (916) 445-2841 and respectfully ask him to sign Senate Bill 1229 into law.

Thank you for all you do for animals. Together, we can reach a time when there are No More Homeless Pets.
