Introduction to D3js and responsive design

Lets get together and talk about D3js! This is for people that just want to learn the basics and for those that are more advanced. The first hour will be an introduction to data viz with d3js by either me (Mark Rios), and, or someone with a lot more experience. After the first hour lets get some chat on responsive web designs in d3js. I'll start off by showing some techniques I'm using but feed back, questions and advice from the audience will be encouraged.

Recommended pre-reading for those who want to learn D3js in the first hour.

1. Read through Scott Murray's tutorial here on the Fundamentals.  http://www.alignedleft.com/tutorials on the fundamentals.

2. (Extra Credit) Read the javascript code in this example bit.ly/1jmmc4r from Nick Qi Zhu.

Thank you all for coming out tonight! Please remember that I'd like to do this again, and we need topics for next month. Also, I'd like your feedback so I can refine the presentation for newer people. Thanks again!!!!

Check the recommended reading 4. Bring questions 5. Bring kindness and patience since this is our first meeting and because this a really new technology

    ** Announcements **

I just updated the location for the meetup. It's going to be at 2901 K. St, Sacramento. You can also click this link for a map http://bit.ly/1mlsrA4. Please give yourself extra time to get here as I've heard parking may be an issue. Second, I want to publicly thank Jordan Oaks from UC Davis for graciously hosting us at the center.

Third, as we approach our meeting I'm looking for ideas from the group as to what exactly you are expecting to learn from an introduction to d3js and responsive design. Unless I hear other wise, I will focus on pain points, that once understood will greatly improve your quality of life.

Fourth, most meetups have some sort of food and drink. I'm not really sure if the center has a policy on food and drink. Given that, please use your discretion regarding it and cleanup should you decide to bring some.
