Hidden Falls Regional Park- cnps plant ID walk

Another plant ID walk with the cnps coming up this friday. Look forward to seeing those of you that can make it.

This will be our first walk to this relatively new and expanding park west of Auburn. Most of the walk is hilly and in the shade. There will be Ferns, Lilies, Buttercup, Phacelia and perhaps Iris in bloom. We are not planning to see the falls unless the group decided to walk further before the 400 foot ascent back to the parking area. The huge parking area has water and rest facilities and a phone. For more info, contact John Schmidt on his cell phone (Friday morning only)[masked] (after 6AM). There is no cellular reception at the parking area.
Bring water, hat, snack, sun protection and camera for pics if you like.
Directions below are from downtown Sacramento or click on the Location Map on the Hidden Falls website. Allow about 20 minutes driving time once you exit I-80 toward Grass Valley
-East on I-80 to Auburn to Hwy 49 North/Grass Valley exit 119B
-Left at the light onto Highway 49/Grass Valley Highway
-Left at Atwood Rd. which is 3.6 miles north of I-80. There is a traffic light here. On your right is a shopping center with a Chevy’s at the south end and a Carl’s Jr. at the traffic light.
-Once on Atwood Rd. there are brown Hidden Falls Park signs at every intersection requiring a direction change.
-Drive west on Atwood Rd.
-Continue west (straight) at Mt. Vernon Rd.
-Right at Mears Rd.
-Right at Mears Place
-Right at park entrance
If you arrive late we’ll be starting down on the Poppy trail.
