Training Hill Junior Beginner(turn back anytime)/Intermediat­e 5 Miles

Description: We'll park on the hillside after the green gate just past the bridge crossing the now converged American River and walk to the bottom of the Stagecoach Trail. From there we will follow the Stage Coach trail to the Mossy Rock Trail to the Flood Trail to the Upper Stage Coach Trail to the Lower Stage Coach Trail back to the cars. This hike is a good workout for people wanting to up there game and not yet ready for training hill with it's loose footing and steep climb.  This trail is wide and footing is much better the entire way. It also offers a year-round running stream at two places along for a much relaxing break point. It is good for beginning and up levels of hiking depending how fast and hard you hike. It is a well-traveled trail, with some great views and features not found anywhere else in the ASRA.

Best time to visit: All Year

Elevation Gain/Loss: Climb to 1,300 feet and back over 5 miles

Altitude at Trailhead: 1.345'

Terrain: Service Roads and Hiking Trails

Distance: 5 Miles

Difficulty Rating:Beginner(Hard)/Intermediate  "Rating Chart"

Fitness Level: This is a climbing hill so if you only hike flat you'll need to practice.

Expected Duration: about 2.5 hours for the hike

Special Skills Necessary: Patience and practice.

Where to meet you: (in your RSVP, please post at which departure site we will find you):

Depart: 6pm at Sunsplash Park and Ride  
Departure Trailhead: 6:45pm at the trailhead (see directions below)

Type of travel: Carpool, meet at trailhead

Things to bring: Willingness to hike together as a group no matter what the speed of the slowest hiker. Willingness to stay between the sweeper and the leader.

Plus: Headlight or flashlight,  2 liters of Water, Snacks, Sunscreen, Bug Repellent, Appropriate footwear for safe travel on the surfaces of the hike.

Membership Required: All adult participants must be Sacramento Trail Mix members. Minors are welcome when accompanied by their parent or guardian club member. Save time for yourself and others by completing your membership form online.

1.Head southeasttoward Taylor Rd 105 ft

2.Turn right onto Taylor Rd 394 ft

3.Take the 1st right onto Atlantic St 112 ft

4.Slight right to merge onto I-80 E towardReno 14.8 mi

5.Take exit 119C for Elm Ave 0.1 mi

6.Keep left at the fork, follow signs forDowntown/Auburn 151 ft

7.Turn left onto Elm Ave 0.2 mi

8.Turn left onto CA-193 E/CA-49 S/El Dorado St 2.4 mi

9.Turn right onto CA-193 E/CA-49 S/El Dorado St/Golden Chain Highway S Continue to follow CA-193 E/CA-49 S/Golden Chain Highway S

Destination will be on the right  0.1 mi
