Riverfront Evening Hike
Approx. 5 miles. Two hours+/-
Meet at 6:00 PM
Starting in downtown Sacramento at 4th and S Streets the hike takes you along the scenic Sacramento Riverfront to Discovery Park and back. For great views of the Old Sac Riverfront and the Delta King we will cross over the Sacramento River at the Tower Bridge and hike along the west side of the river to the I Street Bridge where we cross back to continue the hike to Discovery Park. We then return along the riverfront through Old Sac and back to the starting point. Riverfront Hike Map
There is plenty of free parking after 6:00 pm along S street between 3rd and 4th streets.
For those that have the time afterwards, we'll go for beer, margaritas, and/or dinner at Vallejo's Restaurant on the corner of 4th and S streets.
(To get to the meetup location from I-5, take the Q street exit then right on 3rd street to S street. From Hwy 50 take I-5 north to the Q Street exit. The meetup location is 6 blocks from the 8th and O Street Light Rail Station.)

After I rated the hike through a direct link from email, I saw that the route was changed from the comments above mine. Guess we will have to make sure we leave home earlier on rainy days, but the other two times we attended, we got there in half the time, so who knew?

Thanks, Aaron and Shannon. I will plug your numbers in my cell phone. We still got our walk in, so all was not lost. It is not always easy to get over there from Davis by 6 pm, but we will keep trying as we enjoy the River Walk - nice change of pace from our usual trails in Davis and nice people.

Barb Levin+1 guestWe got tied up in traffic on the causeway and arrived at 6:12 pm. When no one was there, we assumed the group had left, so we headed out on our own, hoping to catch up eventually. We did the route the best we could remember, but arrived at the park without seeing another person. Was the hike cancelled? By the time we got back to Vallejo's, the back room was dark and no one was in it. So, for my husband and me, it was an excellent walk in the rain, but we are sorry we didn't share it with anyone else.
