Title: Seven Pools/Hidden Falls Loop - Beginner - 5.5 Miles

We will hike around some of the popular trails in the Hidden Falls Regional Park (details below). This is a very scenic, local, area that is very popular for hiking, biking, dog walking, horse-riding, and much more! We will stop to view the Hidden Falls and rest for a bit. On the way we will see the Seven Pools area from the top of a cliff, watch your footing here folks, this is a steep fall. We will go at a medium pace and try to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature..
The park is open from sunrise to sunset, 365 days a year, at no charge to visitors. Park information link: http://www.placer.ca.gov/departments/facility/parks/parksandtrails/hiddenfalls.
Best time to visit: The different seasons offer different views and features. The falls flow best after a rain.
Hike Route Map:
Poppy Trail to Blue Oak Loop to Seven Pools Vista to Seven Pools Loop to Quail Run to Blue Oak Loop to North Legacy Way to the Hidden Falls Access Trail where we will stop and take pictures, eat a snack, and enjoy the view. The way back from the falls is a more direct route out, down the Hidden Falls Access Trail and up South Legacy Way to the parking lot.
Elevation Gain/Loss: 750' (Training Hill Jr. is 1300')
Altitude at Trailhead: 990'
Terrain: Service Roads and Hiking Trails
Distance: ~5.5 Miles
Difficulty Rating: Beginner "Rating Chart"
(Not recommended for a first time hiker. If you can do Training Hill Jr. you will have no problem on this hike)
Fitness Level: Must be able to walk for 5.5 miles on relatively flat ground (like a street) at an average rate of about 2.5mph.
Expected Duration: about 2-3 hours for the hike (add additional time for carpooling)
Special Skills Necessary: Patience and practice.
Where to meet you: (in your RSVP, please post at which departure site we will find you):
Departure @ Sunsplash Park n' Ride (near Shell gas station): 1:00pm sharp
Departure @ Trail-head: 1:30pm (see directions to trail-head below)
Type of travel: Carpool or meet at trail-head
Things to bring: Willingness to hike together as a group no matter what the speed of the slowest hiker. Willingness to stay between the sweeper and the leader.
Plus: 2 liters of Water, Sunscreen, Bug Repellent, Appropriate footwear for safe travel on the surfaces of the hike. I recommend light hiking boots or athletic shoes with strong soles. It may be muddy. Windbreakers, mittens, and beanies are very useful on cold, windy days.
Plus Special Equipment: Bring a snack, cameras are okay, there will be a photo opportunity or two.
Membership Required: All adult participants must be Sacramento Trail Mix members. Minors are welcome when accompanied by their parent or guardian club member. Save time for yourself and others by completing your membership form online.

Dogs: Dogs on a maximum 6 foot leash are okay in the park.
Beware that there is a lot of equestrian traffic out on these trails and it is recommended that your dog has been familiarized with horses before hiking down here.

7587 Mears Place; Auburn, CA 95604
Take I-80 East to Auburn (approx 14 miles East from Roseville)
Take exit 119C for Elm Ave
Turn right onto Elm Ave travel 0.3 mi
Turn right onto CA-49 NORTH travel 2.4 mi
Turn left onto Atwood Rd travel 1.7 mi
Continue onto Mt Vernon Rd travel 0.6 mi
Turn left to stay on Mt Vernon Rd travel 1.0 mi
Take the 3rd right onto Mears Dr travel 0.5 mi
Take the 1st right onto Mears Pl travel .1 mi
Find a parking spot at the bottom of the hill. The left half of the parking lot is for equestrians only. Meet in front of the small building that is the restrooms.
Restrooms available: Portable toilet available at trail head and at the halfway point
