Orienteering meet at Sierra College

Title: Gold Country Orienteering Meet at Sierra College


Description: This is the second meet of the year for Gold country orienteering. Put those compass reading skills you learned from Scotts class into practice.  Different skill levels.  Newbies come and learn.  The fees are to Gold country orienteering except for parking.  We can meet, divide into groups of no more than 4 and do the course as groups.

Cool Features: hiking and putting compass skills into practice.

Elevation Gain/Loss

Terrain:  easy

Distance 2-3 miles

Fees : Not sure about parking but will post when I find out.

Cost is 7:00 for a nonmember  plus 2 for each person in a group or join (I think one person can be leader and then rest only pay 2 which can be split up.

You can rent a compass for 5 (optional)

Difficulty Rating: easy

Expected Duration: about2-3 hours for the hike

Special Skills Necessary: reading maps and finding check points

Where to meet you: Sierra College

Departure Trailhead: 9:30 at Sierra College

Type of travel: loop trail finding check points along the way and punching them into the card.

Things to bring: compass, water, (maps are provided.)

Plus: willing to learn compass skills.

Directions to Trailhead: Off at Rocklin Road from I80 Turn right.  Sierra College is about 1/2 mile on the left.
