I first went to 10th and I but then realized that I had misread the address. Fortunately, I was early so had time to get down to old Sacramento for tour. Enjoyable!Seems to me that one should read the comments to learn the specifics going in. Apparently, I was the first to buy my ticket on-line and said so on the comments. The organizer isn't responsible for individuals not doing their homework. Watch the meetup groups and you'll see a lot of organizers get 'burned out'.So much history in this area, KC is to be commended for starting and encouraging this group.

I'm terribly sorry for the last of the last minute cancellation. I'm unable to GET there, was not expecting car problems... have been trying to get a neighbor's help. No luck. I'm very disappointed to miss this.
I'm sorry to hear that, Meghan! No worries, though -- we can do the underground tour again early next year (when the "Adult" tours start up again).

I'm sorry I missed the tour also, but I already had a vacation planned for 4 days in Disneyland. So, definitely next time. Meghan, let me know if you are going next time and we can carpool.

So I got to the museum this morning and it was packed, and the 12 pm tour was sold out. :(
The lady at the front desk said she told multiple people from the meetup group who called, that our group HAD to purchase tickets online ahead of time. I don't know if that was true, but I wasn't able to attend either way.
So I guess for future reference, we should all buy tickets ahead of time online.
I will see you guys next month. :)
Hi Me'Lisa - I am so sorry that happened! I guess the problem was that the instructions to purchase your own ticket online ended up being hidden among the 60+ comments. For the next MeetUp I will make sure to put the instructions for purchasing tickets within the MeetUp description.
Got there too late couldn't find it thought it was 10th and I my mistake but after finding the museum everyone wad already on the tour, but I went in to ck it out was interesting so my day wasn't wasted, only took 1 pic didn't no if it wad allowed,it won't be w/this message cuz don't see a photo send on hear.... but check it out sorry we missed, I should had known it. Was in old sac, thought the tour and underground went around the county jail or courthouse silly me...

For those of you liking historical novels I'm going to recommend "Rest for the Wicked" by Naida West. The trilogy is about the founding of the Sloughhouse area but much of this installment takes place in Sacramento around the year 1900. A few trips to the "Adult" Underground are also included.

Hi everyone! I'm very excited for next week. Can't wait to meet everyone. :)

So bummed. My plans have changed so I have to back out of the tour. I hope we do this again in the spring. This is a tour I've been wanting to take for a while. Have fun guys!
Those who want to stay after for a late lunch... any suggestions on where? I love River City Café, but am open to other suggestions in Old Sac, too.
i would love to chat and hang for a while

I just bought my ticket for Nov 17, 12:000 noon. Cost is $15.00 + $2.25 fee = 17.25 total. I expect that we will meet at the museum before noon to get acquainted.

Thanks Craig! 12:00 it is!

Are we all (or some) having a late lunch afterward, as well, to get better acquainted & talk about the tour? I'd be willing... lots of places of to eat.
Meghan, You and me for lunch, certainly. Plus anyone else that wishes to join us. Where do you suggest?
Is this the correct time? 11:45 PM....
i bought my ticket and expect to be at the museum about 11:45
Terry Hochmuth changed the time from 12:00 PM to 11:45 PM
Terry Hochmuth changed the location to Sacramento History Museum
The tour leaves from the Sacramento History Museum. They do provide private tours for large groups at a flat rate of $300. However, there are only 12 of us who have RSVP'd, so it makes sense to buy individual tickets.

has a time been decided! Im open for any
would love to attend - where will we meet?
0 · November 4
Where does the tour start? Maybe we could meet there or nearby.
Actually, this was suggested by Janice Marie Foote :)
Sorry K.C. & Janice for my mix-up.
So, do we want to meet at the History Museum? It seems sensible to me.
are we going to the 11 am or the noon show?
1 · November 5
not sure! who is heading this wonderful adventure ?
I'm pretty sure K.C. is heading it.
tickets are $15.00 for adults can be purchased online or in person at the museum day of. tours start 11am on the hour for Sunday Nov 17

Nov 17 is great, can't wait, just need time and where is the meetup location, do I need to make reservation?
Sundays are great for me,I'm on board

Nov 17 works for me, can't wait, since Im from SoCal I really need to bone up on NorCal history, there's so much too learn
November 17 is good for me. Do we buy our individual tickets ahead of time or....?
In other meetups where we've done group things like this, they are sometimes reserved for us. Is that an option?
I can call them tomorrow and see if we can set up a group thing or if we have to buy individual tickets.

I will be out of town, but sounds like a great beginning!
I'm in --& excited for this group's first event! A bunch of history buffs off to explore our fair city together... love it!
Oh, I will have to catch it the next go round in the spring. Have fun!
Sorry, I won't be able to make it that day, I will be out of town on vacation. :(
JEANETTE SHAFFER changed the date and time to Sunday, November 17, 2013 at 12:00 PM
How about Dec. 15, 11:00? We might have lunch after?
Right now the only dates in December that don't work for me are December 7-8, I have a work event on those days. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

I have done this tour several times and know the person who originally wrote the content of the tour (whom I might add is a fabulous writer and researcher). I have yet to go on the adult version of the tour and all future adult tours are sold out through the year.
Should we wait until March when the new tour season starts so we can get into an adult tour? Or should we go ahead and schedule a regular tour for sometime at the end of November/December?
Personally, I'd go twice, both now for a 'mini tour', & again in 5 months for a full one. March is a little ways off & it would feel fresh after half a year, especially since it will be more involved. That's my 2 cents.
I would like to go to either of them, since I have never been on the formal tours. When I worked for the Sacramento History Center, they were just starting to talk about developing the tours and they took us underground to look around. I can't wait to see what they've come up with for content.
I'd love to go, but Nov. is out for me. If anyone wants to go in Dec., I will try to make it. The adult themed underground tour might be fun. It's 1.5 hours long and costs $20. I think it leaves at 5:30, which might help those working.
Come explore Sacramento's rich and diverse history! If you like museums, archives, and walking tours...then this is the group for you! As a new group, we are open to any suggestions for MeetUp gatherings.
