Jeannie Mahoney, single lady, nana to 6 baby girls. I've been looking for a regular mahjongg game for many years and very glad to find your group.
Yes, I played a lot of mahjong in college while living in Manila. I'm not sure which version we played.
Yes they are!

For years, I played "Manila" mahjong. This club plays only HongKong mahjong, the rules of which I'd never heard before. While one would say it makes for strategic play, i.e., it involves "skills," I say it imposes undue and overly restrictive rules that undermine the intrinsic values of pong and chao, legitimate core structures in mahjong. On our first meetup playing 3 hours, we had 3 dead games, meaning nobody won! In the 45 years I've played Manila mahjong, I've seen 1 dead game, and it was at a high-stakes, ambition-only tournament. At the end of the day, the purported skillset necessary to manage your hand, whether in cards or mahjong, is still incumbent upon luck. I plan to continue with the group and "growing" with HongKong mahjong. Getting to know everyone is still the best part of belonging in any group.
Hi there, thank you for interest in Zumba Sacramento! Yes, this class is for all ages. I will forward your message on to the instructor for information on where to locate the appropriate shoes. Expect to hear back from one of us soon. Thanks again!
Thanks for your comments. The club is so lucky to have such an articulate and insightful observer of the game. Although I had been exposed to "Manila" mahjong all my life in Philippines, I never learned to play it. Mahjong caught my interest two years ago when I saw my husband enjoying the game with my friends from Reno. This is unusual because his passion is only for the game of golf (without me). Now, we have an activity that both of us can enjoy.
Welcome to the club, Jeannie!
I was so excited after I spoke to you last night because you are so enthusiastic! We need spark plugs in our club to brighten up our sessions. See you tonight at the beginners and newcomers meetup. ”
