Happy Hour - Perspectives on Prosperity

What is necessary for us to be prosperous? Some will argue that personal initiative is ultimately what determines one's prosperity. But does it have something to do with just plain luck? Do we need a certain amount of governmental stewardship of the economy and/or society to ensure prosperity? Or is government a hindrance to prosperity?
