The Sacramento Road Cruisers is a group of motorcycle enthusiasts with the common interest of riding motorcycles, and enjoying the beauty of Northern California. Our members ride primarily cruiser, touring, and sport touring bikes of all brands, with an occasional dual sport, sport bike, or naked bike.
The club invites men and women of all ages and riding skills. This organization is about fun and friendship. We all enjoy riding, and the fellowship that goes along riding with others. It is lots of fun to ride with a group, both for the ride, and the camraderie of finding friends who like the same thing that you do. We will ride some familiar roads, and also try and take you to some places that you have never been before.
On some rides we will ride on roads with steep hills, hairpin turns, potholes, or otherwise rough and bumpy conditions. Other rides are just long, and fatigue is definitely a safety factor, particularly for newer riders. We try to include a description of the difficulty of the ride on the calendar, and will try and have at least one ride a month that is shorter, on easier roads, which will be good for newer riders to get their feet wet. If you are a newer rider, be sure to read the ride description before signing up for a ride.
Having fun safely is our primary mission. It is not a club for wanna be road racers, or for riders who feel a need to ride loud and fast, and intimidate other drivers, or otherwise ride recklessly. We discourage the consumption of alcohol, or other drugs, any time you ride a motorcycle. Any rider who rides unsafely because of alcohol or drug use, or other unsafe riding will be required to leave a ride.
We support the use of full protective gear whenever riding a motorcycle. While this might not save your life, it just might, or significantly reduce injuries if you do go down. If you have any doubts, we have a number of members who can relate their first hand experiences, both good, and bad, why riding with proper gear is a good idea, and riding without it ... not so good.
Please be sure to check out the other pages on our site, including the "Pages", "Discussions", and "More" tabs at the top of the site.
When you join as a member on the Meetup site, you get access to all of the parts of the site, as well as automatic messages, with reminders about upcoming rides. It does not mean that you are a full member yet.
After a couple of rides with us, if you like the style of the club, we would like you to become a full member. To become a full club member you need to mail, or bring to a meeting or ride, a completed application form, along with a check for yearly dues, $20 individual or $30 couple. There is no minimum number of rides to join as a full member, and no qualifications except having a motorcycle endorsement on your drivers license. We do suggest a ride or two with us first, before you become a club member. There are a lot of different clubs, and club styles, and a lot of different riders, and riding styles.
We have a membership application under the "Files" section of the website, or, there will be blanks at club meeting, or before rides (most of the time at least, as we are not always as organized as we would like to be).
