Day Hike (3B) Mt Rose

  • Jul 16, 2013 · 7:00 AM

Tahoe Peaks series #6. This is a hike to the summit of Mt Rose, the third tallest peak in the Tahoe basin. Hike stats: 10 miles (round trip), elevation gain 1900', starting elevation 8800’. There should be lots of wildflowers, and great vistas of Reno and Tahoe. The hike will be moderately paced over a rocky trail with significant elevation gain. Hikers must be in very good to excellent condition. Bring the essentials, including sturdy boots, water, snacks, lunch, layered clothing due to changeable weather conditions, and $$ for carpool drivers. No minors. No dogs. Rain cancels.

We will meet in the Sacramento area and carpool to the trail head. Leader will email meeting place info to RSVPs.

(Note: do not RSVP for this outing if you have disabled your Meetup email.)

Thanks for posting this hike, Mike. I have never climbed Mt Rose. It has been on my list for years. Sorry to have missed hiking with the group, but I enjoyed taking a more leisurely pace and stopping to "smell the flowers". :) Great to see you at the top, and thanks for my token!

Mt Rose was kind to us today. Great visibility and only a little wind, not the forecast 40MPH. Fun group, outstanding day.
