Day Hike (3C) Twin Peaks

  • July 30, 2013 · 7:30 AM

Tahoe Peaks series #9. Twin Peaks is on the west shore of Lake Tahoe and offers some unusual views of the lake. Most of this hike is on the PCT/Tahoe Rim Trail. There is a short rock scramble to reach the summit. Hike stats: 10 miles (round trip), elevation gain 2200', starting elevation 7600’. The hike will be moderately paced over a rocky trail with significant elevation gain. Hikers must be in very good to excellent condition. Bring the essentials, including sturdy boots, water, snacks, lunch, layered clothing due to changeable weather conditions, and $$ for carpool drivers. No minors. No dogs. Rain cancels.
We will meet in the Sacramento area and carpool to the trail head. Leader will email meeting place info to RSVPs.

Another awesome Tahoe day on the mountain. This one had an intimidating scramble for the last 100 yards, but everyone made the summit. From the comments the group made, looks like I'll have to do this one again. :-)

I'm in Meadow Vista/Auburn area. Any chance I can meet up with people up this way instead of driving down to Roseville just to come back up the hill? Maybe the Meadow Vista/Clipper Gap park and ride?

May I ask why dogs aren't allowed?

    June 7, 2013

Ok; thanks for the response. Let me ask - is this a rule for all Sierra Club hikes, or is it left up to the Event Host's discretion of a particular hike? (Assuming there isn't a 'no dog' rule on the trail.)

    • Mike R

This is not a Sierra Club rule, it is at the discretion of the hike leader.
