Day Hike (2A) Tomales Point

Day Hike (2A) Tomales Point.

On this foggy coastal hike along gently rolling, slender Tomales Point we will observe magestic Tule Elk with their spectacular racks, and numerous seabirds including Comorants and Pelicans.  Hike stats: 10 miles (out and back), 900' total elevation gain, starting elevation 300’.  Hikers must be in reasonably good condition. 1+ miles of this hike are uphill in thick sand. This hike is a crapshoot weather-wise so be prepared for foggy, windy, damp or full sun and breeze. We may have a beautiful view, or could be fogged in. Bring the essentials, including hiking boots, water, snacks, lunch, layered clothing due to changeable weather conditions and $$ for carpool drivers.  No minors.  No dogs.  Rain cancels.  Hike limited to 20.

The day was picture perfect! The sun was out, the sky cloudless, no fog at all, lots of wild elk to see, the ocean was both wild and tame.

Should be a great day! Dress in layers as it will be chilly an possibly completely fogged in-- but hiking will make us peel it off! think about bringing a bag to put your hiking boots in and a change of shoes so as not to dirty up your carpool peeps car… :)
