I motion to create a sacramento urban agriculture alliance (SUAA) (open to other names, but i'm going off the SFUAA).
This group would meet monthly to discuss developments for urban agriculture in sacramento--from sidewalk gardens to city farms.
I used to be involved with the SFUAA and want to start one here. this is what they do:
The San Francisco Urban Agriculture Alliance (SFUAA) promotes the growing of food within San Francisco and the associated goals of our member organizations, through advocacy, education, and grassroots action.
One awesome thing they do is a group serve email. anyone can send out emails--maybe there's a how to compost event, or maybe someone needs someone to pick up some extra hay. or maybe someone has extra space in their car for going to the ecofarm conference. SFUAA provides a platform for networking for people growing food and people who want to grow food. I think sacramento needs this desperately.
so, who's in? I would like to hold the first meeting near the full moon--which is in a little over a week. the goal of this meeting would be to establish the goal of creating a sacramento urban agriculture alliance and hopefully begin an outline of the mission as well as avenues for communication.
please, reply with your thoughts. let's grow an edible sacramento!
