Sacramento Earth Day

"learn ... commit ... ACT!"

at Earth Day Sacramento—our annual community celebration of sustainability* and all things "green," sponsored by the Environmental Council of Sacramento (ECOS). The Sacramento Vegetarian Society, a member organization of ECOS, will be taking charge of one of the greenest activities going by once again coordinating the all-vegan food vendors.

Join us for a delightful day in the park with diverse tablers and vendors who will share practical information on saving money, living healthier, and protecting the environment.

Great entertainment and activities for all ages! See the Earth Day website (http://www.sacramentoearthday.net/) for more info.

Calling all tablers! Please sign up for a shift of one or two, or more, hours at the SVS booth! Express willingness to assist here or at [masked]. Thank you!

This was a great event. The weather, the atmosphere and the people all had a part in making this a wonderful day. I loved the music and the variety of booths. Although I was busy most of the day at my own booth, the people I talked to all seemed to be having a good time. Thanks to everyone who participated and to all who helped put it together.

That includes you, Ilsa! Thanks for helping staff the SVS booth, and providing free Nacheez samples.

The Sacramento Vegetarian Society is directly responsible for the all-vegan food sold at Sacramento Earth Day that many members have commented on here and elsewhere. SVS representatives serving on the ECOS Earth Day Committee (Don Knutson and Glenn Destatte) initiated and implemented that policy last year. With renewed SVS influence this year, this new Sacramento "tradition" continued and will presumably carry forward.

The event tripled in size in a year! That is good to see. Wasn't sure what was up with the animal pelts laid out on one of the tables-didn't care to investigate but seemed very out of place. That aside, I thought it was great and I look forward to next year.

all food options offered for sale were vegan, and the organinizers whom upheld this should be congradulated.

We have quite a few Earth Day tabling volunteer slots still to fill. Please join us for the fun of talking to our friends and neighbors and spreading the veg word! Just an hour or two of your time would be so helpful.
