Websites That Keeping Working When You're Not

On the heels of a successful reboot comes our 2nd meet up! Like before, we'll have food and drinks - this time sponsored by Minnick Web Services (www.minnick.com) - starting at 6 pm at the Hacker Lab. Show up anytime between 6 pm and 7 pm for networking.

At 7 pm, we'll have a 35-40 minute presentation. After the great reaction to Jennifer Bourn's lightning talk from our reboot, she'll dive deeper into the secrets behind Bourn Creative's WordPress powered websites. The talk for our second meeting will be focused on overall website strategy for businesses. Here's Jennifer's description:

===

You didn’t start your business to work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, but that is exactly what your website is for! Imagine this: Your website is beautiful, inviting, and robust. Its design, content, and usability make it a pleasure for visitors to explore. They linger there gladly — they sign up, subscribe, register, and buy — and they refer your website to others.

Sound too good to be true? It isn’t. The critical component that differentiates a so-so website from a wildly successful website is strategy. Your website can become a hub of influence — stunning, effective, and profitable, if it is designed to not only be of service and provide value, but to generate profits and conversions, and it’s easier than you think.

===

Following the talk, we'll open the floor to general Q&A for our community - whether you're trying to conquer a problem with WordPress, or just looking for a recommended plug-in, our audience is a wealth of knowledge!

We'll be shooting for lightning talks every 4th or 5th meetup, and rotating between specific areas of interest in between for talks (developer, beginner, implementer, business application, etc). Let us know what you'd like to see next!

    Jennifer from Bourn Creative (http://www.bourncreative.com/) gave a great, detailed presentation, "Strategies For A Site That Works When You're Not". Her main focus was guiding your visitors to take specific actions on your Website.

    Well presented and organized.

      Her main question: What do you want your site viewer to do? That's the basis for your entire design.

    Jennifer did a great job. She gave very clear, practical information on how to make a website that delivers what the website owner's crave - conversion! As someone that is design challenged, this was eye opening.

    Hi,
    I am a photographer and moving to Sacramento from San Juan Capistrano in Southern California. I have started my new website using WordPress. I have taken a class but would like to get more useful tips and to meet some people who are doing the same thing.
