Part 1: Startup Weekend was friggin awesome! This was my first one. And it was particularly great to see everybody following Lean Startup methodologies. I got a chance to view many of the team's Business Model Canvases and play around with some of their MVP demos.

I've been producing/customizing WP site's for clients since 2007 and I'm sick of building nice, complete WP sites for clients who don't do any damn validated learning and MVP to test if anybody even wants to buy their product/service. It's such a ridiculous waste of hopes, dreams, family time, maxed-out credit cards and angel investments.

Part 2: I initially thought the WordPress meetup was going to be in a separate room, away from the Startup Weekend peeps. But that wasn't the case. I really liked last month's WP meetup - it was just WP folks. But I did see WordPress being used by a couple of the Startup Weekend teams, including the 2nd-place winners, (a responsive WP theme from ThemeForest).

Wasn't for me. First timer at a StartUp weekend and I discovered what it's all about. Not what I needed. At least I know what its all about. FYI, many of those great projects that were developed will quickly die without SEO, SMM, and marketing There should be more of a marketing element to StartUp weekend.

Wasn't what I expected, I thought it would be a group of Wordpress folks working together to build a Wordpress site from scratch over the 3 day period (at the time I signed up the Wordpress Meetup site was showing 14 participants), turned out to be 100 folks that were interested in creating a/their startup company.

I got sucked in because the announcement was posted in the Wordpress Meetup and I read too much into the posted description “So join up with fellow designers, programmers, engineers, and business developers to launch a new startup”, again I was thinking Wordpress.

I only attended the first night as it wasn't Wordpress focused.
