Free Speech, Free Press, Free Software

Starts at 6 pm at the Hacker Lab. Show up anytime between 6 pm and 7 pm for networking. Presentation starts at 7 pm, and shouldn't be longer than 45 minutes. Following the talk, we'll open the floor to general Q&A for our community - whether you're trying to conquer a problem with WordPress, or just looking for a recommended plug-in, our audience is a wealth of knowledge.

Joe Boydston has helped community newspapers in California replace their proprietary publishing systems with WordPress. Far more than just a website, these newspapers use WordPress to run their brick and mortar businesses. Joe will look at themes and plugins developed by these newspapers, illustrating many outside the box uses of WordPress.

This month's meetup is sponsored by PMC, is a privately owned California corporation. PMC was established in 1995 with a mission to provide planning, environmental, and municipal services to public agencies, special districts, and public-oriented organizations. Be sure to check out their website and thank them for our food and drinks, so they'll do so again:

Hope to see everyone there!

Big thumbs up for the ifttt approach--leaves dealing with Facebook API changes in the hands of the ifttt engineers who have the resources and time to keep up with the frequent changes.

Our first Wordpress Meetup and the session was terrific. Joe's presentation was very informative and the question/discussion time was greatly appreciated.

Fantastic!! Very informative and compelling. Although I am a developer newbie I caught the intent at this point. All my questions were answered, all of them that I could understand that is. This has inspired me to keep going with my developer studies.

Enjoyed Joe's presentation and everyone's participation in a low-key, professional environment. One suggestion: Maybe a microphone for the speaker. James Raia (

This is my 5 min speech I didn't have a chance to give. If you are new to WP, or a small business owner as I am, you think that it's easy to set up a WP site, which it is, but there are so many decisions to make, and eventually you realize you need to buy themes, etc. I spent 5 years (and a lot of $) trying various themes. hiring consultants, etc, and being frustrated. When I found the Small Biz Theme I was finally able to put together a decent site with all the details, and it just solved so many problems for me I haven't had since. You can check it out here.

They are also quite good with tech support, video training, etc, unlike some others I could name. Various current sites same theme

Is there a way to re-index content on a website that for some reason is no longer indexed.

I agree with Jennifer I would try to find out what caused this issue. You can also go to Google WMT and fetch as google to submit the specific URL.
