Hypnosis for Cancer

In the July Sacramento Hypnosis Meetup, we'll talk about how hypnosis and hypnotherapy are used with cancer to relieve fear and pain, and perhaps even promote the reduction of tumors or remission of the cancer.

FEAR and PAIN: The two biggest hurdles for people with cancer are fear and pain (and the stress that goes along with them). This includes fear of the unknown (or negative expectations they've seen, heard or experienced) and physical pain (or the expectation of pain). Hypnosis can be a powerful tool for relieving those feelings of fear (and building hope), plus relieving and controlling pain (including so-called intractable pain).  I'll demonstrate some powerful hypnotic techniques I use for doing both.

MIND/BODY CONNECTION: There's also a possibility that negative experiences and emotions that eat away at the mind can begin to eat away at the body.  Every client I've ever had with cancer had powerful feelings of anger, fear, sadness, pain, grief or guilt (often more than just one). By using hypnotherapy tools to rapidly change the perspective and take away the emotional punch of the situations that installed those feelings, the feelings themselves fade. Then the stress from those feelings is gone, which I believe can free up more of the body's resources to heal. We'll discuss ways to do this.

CANCER-FIGHTING VISUALIZATIONS: These can also be very powerful. They are initially used in person and can then be used as reinforcement audios to be listened to daily. These can be generic or customized to the client's beliefs and interests - we'll go over some examples.

DEEP SELF-HYPNOSIS: With cancer, I believe deep rest is critical. I teach what I refer to as the "Basement of Relaxation" self-hypnosis technique in which the body is essentially turned off. This results in natural pain control, feeling wonderful and having deep rest and relaxation. I'll demonstrate this as well.

NOTE: Other hypnosis/hypnotherapy practitioners are welcome and encouraged to attend and share their methods and approaches.

There will be plenty of time for Q&A and, as always, everyone is welcome to experience hypnosis for themselves in a safe and secure environment.

Remember to RSVP and see you at the Meetup!

Extremely informative! David really has thought out each meetup and made it such an enjoyable experience. I am just starting to learn about the basics of Hypnotherapy and he really breaks the monthly topic, like Cancer, down where a beginner like me feels like I can truly comprehend more advanced information. I am amazed how much Hypnotherapy can help so many people with such a broad spectrum of things such as pain, stress, self esteem, and even Cancer!

First of all I was very impressed with the number of Hypno Therapists that attended. I found this meetup very informative. I liked how it was kind of an "open forum" for most of it but how David kept guiding us back to the main subject of this particular session which was Hypnosis for Cancer. I was very impressed with the topic and all of the input by most of the people who came. It helped me alot to know that I've chosen the right group to attend. I know that I will be at every one of the future meetup sessions. I know that we all learned a lot of beneficial information that we can take with us.

I enjoyed it. Being a nontrusting person and skeptical I was pleasantly surprised that I allowed David to be put into a hypnotic stage. I didn't know what I was expecting because of lack of experience and not sure if I was completely under because of my lack of trust with anyone or anything, but, came out of it relaxed and it felt good.

David is a person that will allow you to relax and trust by him just being in the room. Very peaceful energy and that makes a person relax when in his presence.

The Hypnosis for Cancer meetup was very good. There was good information about hypnosis in general, Theory of Mind, how to work on pain and fear issues related to Cancer through relaxation and some very good demonstration of hypnosis techniques - including a very impressive demonstration of the Dave Elman hand drop rapid induction and a very nice self hypnosis technique utilization eyelid relaxation. My only complaint was that it was a very hot evening and the air conditioner didn't work and that made it a bit uncomfortable.

David continues to do a great job of introducing new and interesting topics and finding a good balance between teaching and allowing the group to interact.
