The Mental Coach
In the July Sacramento Hypnosis Meetup, we'll talk about how hypnosis and hypnotherapy are used with cancer to relieve fear and pain, and perhaps even promote the reduction of tumors or remission of the cancer.
FEAR and PAIN: The two biggest hurdles for people with cancer are fear and pain (and the stress that goes along with them). This includes fear of the unknown (or negative expectations they've seen, heard or experienced) and physical pain (or the expectation of pain). Hypnosis can be a powerful tool for relieving those feelings of fear (and building hope), plus relieving and controlling pain (including so-called intractable pain). I'll demonstrate some powerful hypnotic techniques I use for doing both.
MIND/BODY CONNECTION: There's also a possibility that negative experiences and emotions that eat away at the mind can begin to eat away at the body. Every client I've ever had with cancer had powerful feelings of anger, fear, sadness, pain, grief or guilt (often more than just one). By using hypnotherapy tools to rapidly change the perspective and take away the emotional punch of the situations that installed those feelings, the feelings themselves fade. Then the stress from those feelings is gone, which I believe can free up more of the body's resources to heal. We'll discuss ways to do this.
CANCER-FIGHTING VISUALIZATIONS: These can also be very powerful. They are initially used in person and can then be used as reinforcement audios to be listened to daily. These can be generic or customized to the client's beliefs and interests - we'll go over some examples.
DEEP SELF-HYPNOSIS: With cancer, I believe deep rest is critical. I teach what I refer to as the "Basement of Relaxation" self-hypnosis technique in which the body is essentially turned off. This results in natural pain control, feeling wonderful and having deep rest and relaxation. I'll demonstrate this as well.
NOTE: Other hypnosis/hypnotherapy practitioners are welcome and encouraged to attend and share their methods and approaches.
There will be plenty of time for Q&A and, as always, everyone is welcome to experience hypnosis for themselves in a safe and secure environment.
Remember to RSVP and see you at the Meetup!
