This is a group for anyone interested in the overlaps between spirituality, social action and activism. The group was inspired by Andrew Harvey's teachings on 'sacred activism' and 'radical passion' - the fusion of the mystics' passion for God or the Divine, with the activists' passion for justice. We learn from the great mystics and spiritual masters like Rumi, Sri Aurobindo, Ibn Arabi, the Dalai Lama, Bede Griffiths, Sri Ramakrishna, Thich Nhat Hanh, Ramana Maharshi, Catherine of Sienna, Francis of Assisi, Meister Eckhart, Julian of Norwich, Thomas Merton, Hildegard of Bingen and Theresa of Avila, and champions of social justice like William Wilberforce, Martin Luther King, Desmond Tutu, Gandhi, Florence Nightingale, Oscar Romero - and many more. The group is open to anyone of any faith or spiritual tradition who is committed to honest and respectful discussion, to deepening their spiritual practice and transformation, and to serving some cause beyond themselves. We explore the teachings of Andrew and others, share our stories, laugh, eat, pray, meditate and support each other on our journeys.

Meetup has allowed me to meet people I wouldn't have met naturally - they're totally different than me.
