  • Mondo Zen is a 13-step facilitated dialog to access and ground in the clarity of original mind, and a practice method to enlighten our mental and emotional habits in our daily lives. One need not "become Buddhist" to benefit from from Mondo Zen. It is a non-denominational practice that can be enjoyed by anyone from any spiritual tradition.

This retreat will be led by Doshin Michael Nelson, Roshi, 84th lineage holder in the Rinzai zen linage. It will provide an interactive demonstration and explanation of what Mondo Zen is, and what each step means. Then, each participant will have the opportunity to personally experience the process, and go home with their own "emotional koan," a tool to transform one area of one's life using meditative mind and conscious, compassionate response. No prior meditation experience is required.

Retreats include sitting meditation, walking meditation, qi gong and chanting. Meals are[masked]% organic, vegetarian and home-cooked (yum!). It starts Saturday afternoon and ends Friday morning. You will receive a Mondo Zen manual and Hollow Bones sutra book to take home with you.

The retreat costs $750 which covers your room and board. We use the "co-creative contribution" process at the end of the retreat and ask for a donation to support the operations of Hollow Bones based on your value received and ability to pay. This optimally allows those of sufficient means to donate more so that those with limited means can attend the retreat. A donation is not required to attend, and we aim to provide you such a high quality experience that you will understand the importance of supporting our efforts. Please use this as an opportunity to explore what "generosity" means to you, and the paradox in life that the more we consciously give, the more we authentically receive.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
