Anyone fancy a trip to Thailand?

OK, well maybe not that far but a Thai meal one evening - anyone up for it? Recommendations and suggestions for venues are welcome and I'll be happy to organise.

Looks like we have 5 drivers. Not sure if we need all of them. Shall I pick some people up from somewhere or would someone like to pick me up from somewhere? Is the Common car park a good place to converge on around 7.30 maybe?

    1 · March 6

    • Peter

I'd also like a lift there and back - quite happy to "loiter with intent" at the car park at 7:30.

    • Jonathan

Looks like I'm pumping the tyres up. I have 3 passengers so far. Could possibly take one more but it will be cosy. See you at the car park 7.30.

Hi all - I'm going to see the Rat Pack at the Cambridge Corn Exchange on Sat 8th March with a group of friends and we have a spare ticket. Would anyone like to come? It's £27 for a fun night out with a group of lovely ladies!

Thank heavens this site is back up and running! Can I just anyone who can't make it after all to let me know asap please, also to get back to the volunteer drivers! If anyone needs an extra place booking please also let me know, should be a great evening :o)

    March 5

  • mary o.

I can drive, have space for 3

  • claire

looks like there is enough drivers, if it is poss to get a lift? I have a really heavy day driving Friday (not sure I want to volunteer to drive anyone at night!).

    March 2

  • Sue C.

Regarding the change of venue, I booked the table a long time ago for 1 6 people and I feel to let the pub down at this late stage wouldn't be fair. As everyone was happy to go to the Three Tuns originally I think it would be good to stick to the plan, we only need 4 drivers and I'm happy to be one, as is Shaun. We could be back in Walden to catch the music after dinner and another time we can go to the Thai in Walden and compare! Any other volunteers to drive please say so on here - perhaps we could liaise in the market square on the night?

    March 1

    • Julie W.

I'm with Sue on this one, the pub is expecting us. It takes a lot to accommodate 16 person party (and a lot to organise 16 of us-thanks Sue). There are plenty weeks ahead when we can do Thai in SW and there will be plenty drinking time in SW after our meal on friday evening. See you friday!

Hi, I was thinking the same, the thai in saffron walden is really good and we can all walk, even go for a drink after, what is everyone else's thoughts?

  • Jonathan

I'm wondering if it might be worth changing the location to the Thai on Hill St and we can then go & see our old favorites 'On the Edge' afterwards or maybe visit The Garden of Edmir again.

My Golf can potentially take 4 passengers from town if needed else I would be glad of a lift.

Have tried and failed to get a minibus so it looks like taxi or car sharing. Can I suggest that those who don't mind driving comment on here about where they can pick up from and how many they can take??

  • Jan

    Love to come along.

I have also eaten in The Three Tuns lots of times and the food has always been excellent.

    1 · January 31, 2014

  • Simon P.

Yes - pending availability I'm up for it!

    January 30, 2014

  • Sue C.

So, is anyone else interested in this as an evening out? It looks like the favourite is the Three Tuns in Abington so far.

    January 30, 2014

  • Peter

Venues? As far as I'm aware, the Bankok Thai Restaurant on Hill Street has no competition around here (it's where the Sangdao Thai restaurant used to be - near the mini-roundabout).

Staff were friendly and the food was good last time I was there, and their menu has stuff to cater for chilli-lovers as well as folks with milder tastes.

Depending on the date/time, I'd be up for this.

    January 20, 2014

    • Debbie

I can vouch for the Three Tuns, I have eaten there several times. The Chef is Thai.

      1 · January 30, 2014

    • Sue C.

Thanks Debbie, I've eaten at the Three Tuns too and it's always been fabulous!

      January 30, 2014

  • Sue C.

    Any more interest out there?

    January 22, 2014

  • Karen

Either sounds good to me - although personally I preferred sue's original suggestion :-)
