This one is scheduled for next Tuesday, 7/30. Hopefully some of the people who are on the waitlist for the 7/25 sail will get to go on this one.
Meet at CBI and go sailing for an hour or two in a Sonar.
I can take up to 7 guests. You *don't* need to be a CBI member. So if you've been sitting on the fence about joining CBI, this would be an excellent way to get a free sail in before deciding whether to get a membership or not.
Unfortunately CBI has a limited number of Sonars, and they're pretty popular, so we need to get there early enough to make sure there is a boat for us. So if we do this on a weekday, we'll have to meet at 5:30pm (or earlier) and on a weekend day, 10am or earlier.
Best way to get to CBI is to get off at the Charles/MGH T station (red line). Once you're out of the T station, look for the foot bridge to the left of the Longfellow bridge, that takes you over Storrow Drive and to the Esplanade. The boat house is right by the foot bridge.
Parking can be difficult in the area. If you can't find street parking, you can park at the Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary parking lot, and I can get your parking ticket validated for $7. However the entrance to this lot is not easy to find if it's your first time, and if you miss it, you can easily lose 15+ minutes, depending on traffic.
If your situation changes, and you can't make it, please update your RSVP to "no" as soon as possible.
If this is your first time at Community Boating, ask for a guest waiver form at the front desk and fill it out. You should also ask for a guest card.
If you've been to CBI before, bring your guest card. It's $5 to get a replacement card, if you don't bring it.
Sailing sometimes involves getting splashed with water, so you want to wear something you don't mind getting a bit of Charles river water on.
They have day lockers. Bring a lock if you want to use one.
We can also go out for beers and/or dinner as a group afterwards, if people are interested.
