Are you a sailor, land-locked in Switzerland, and want to get onto the water? To cruise the Med, or perhaps further afield?
Join us in the activities of "Sailing New Horizons" meet-up group.
We aim to facilitate the ways and means to make cost-effective and fun sailing get-aways.
Possible sailing destinations to start: the Ionian Islands, off northern Greece; Corfu, Ithaca and Cephalonia in the north waters, or perhaps Peloponnese peninsula and the Saronic Gulf in the south. Or consider the Croatian coastline between Pula and Korcula, and the waters off Turkey's Gulf of Fethiye and Datça Peninsula. Looking west to the relatively placid waters around Majorca, the Costa Smeralda and the offshore islands of north-east Sardinia, northern Sicily and the Cote d'Azur.
For more experienced sailors: the two Greek island groups of the Cycladese (notably Mykonos and Santorini) and the Dodecanese (Rhodes and Kos) - these lie in the path of the Meltemi wind that blows from the Balkans, so things get fresh. Other challenging but exhilarating sailing areas can also be found off the smaller, less accessible Balearic Islands; the barren, beautiful 100-island archipelago of Kornati in Croatia; Elba and the "Seven Sisters" group of islands between Tuscany and Corsica, and off the eastern coast of Spain.
