Sci-Fi/Fantasy Selection: The Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss

Since it's so hard to restrict a discussion to just one book in a series, we're going to read both books that are currently available in this series, The Name of the Wind and The Wise Man's Fear.

The Name of the Wind: Told in Kvothe's own voice, this is the tale of the magically gifted young man who grows to be the most notorious wizard his world has ever seen. The intimate narrative of his childhood in a troupe of traveling players, his years spent as a near-feral orphan in a crime-ridden city, his daringly brazen yet successful bid to enter a legendary school of magic, and his life as a fugitive after the murder of a king form a gripping coming-of-age story unrivaled in recent literature. A high-action story written with a poet's hand, The Name of the Wind is a masterpiece that will transport readers into the body and mind of a wizard.

The Wise Man's Fear: For nearly four years, fantasy and science fiction enthusiasts have been eagerly awaiting this second volume to Patrick Rothfuss' Kingkiller Chronicles. The first volume, The Name of the Wind, won the prestigious Quill Award and was recently voted as the third-best SFF novel of the decade on Tor.com. In this linchpin book of the trilogy, Kvothe continues his perilous search for answers about the Chandrian even as he grapples with more pressing dangers.

p.s. If book #3 is released before this meeting, we may add it to the line-up. The current release date is unknown.

I am so sad that I will be out of town that night. I loved both books so much, I made my husband read them too & I am recommending them to other friends who like to read this genre. Great pick!!!
