South Fork of the Snake - Swan Valley

Hi Fly Fishers,

The Swan Valley in Idaho has to one of the most beautiful places on the planet! And fall on the south fork once the flows have decreased can be epic! I have set up a couple of reservations for small cabins that have three beds each and will need firm RSVPs a couple of weeks prior.  The price is $35/person if 2 per cabin, $25/person for 3 per cabin.  If we have females RSVP, we will put you together in the same cabin.

Stay tuned, more to come.

Can I get a final count of people meeting at the Olympic Cove Park and Ride? Right now I have Pam. Anyone else? Michelle and Deborah are out, so I will plan to drive. Nico, your crew is heading up tomorrow, right?

I can ride or drive. I have an SUV. What flys should I get?

    • Mark

But! The place we are staying is also a fly shop and the owner is fairly knowledgeable so you can always wait and get flies up there.

Mark, my guests and I are thinking about heading up there Friday around 2 pm so we can add an extra evening/morning of fishing to the trip. Do you think we would be able to stay Fri night in the same cabin as Sat night? Who should I contact?

    October 15, 2013

    • Mark

Send me an email: [masked] and I will send you the info. Note that you will have 6-7pm Fri and 8-11am Sat. However, there is little chance of a bite before 10am.

Hey crew, I'm driving this Saturday from the park and ride. I can take two passengers from there and then will pick up Kim in Layton. We need one more driver who can take three passengers, preferably with an SUV or minivan. Volunteers?

Mark, Just noticed this outing. Or noticed again. Is it too late? What have the fishing reports been lately?
I have floated it a few times but not familiar with the access points and wading areas. Have you walked the river much?
    Thanks.

Hi Mark, in the summer wading is difficult, but in October, the flows are low making much of the river accessible. Right now, we are booked up as far as cabin space is concerned. Ic can let you know if an opening comes up. But you are welcome to check into other options as well.

Mark, I now have me +2. Does than mean my bunch should get a 3 person cabin at $25 each? How do we coordinate this?

    October 7, 2013

    • Mark

I will stay with your crew in a 4 person cabin, the gals will be in a 3 person cabin. The cost is $20-25 each

I am going to give up my spot, I had hoped i would've my western setup by now but its another more week of waiting..I don't think I will have enough experience with it to make a trip all the way there and I don't think my tenkara rod will suffice there.

      Sorry to hear Nanda

Hey Nico, welcome! who is your plus 1? male or female? Relationship or friend?

    September 25, 2013

    • Nico D.

Gotcha so then we are not over capacity? As long as I only have a +1

      September 27, 2013

    • Nanda Y.

Nico, I am going to relinquish my spot.

I don't have full-on waders, but a pair of chota-hippies. Will they work for this water?

    September 23, 2013

    • Nanda Y.

ok thanks, i will see if i can rent one from somewhere. But I am planning on having a western setup by then and will be using that instead of tenkara for such big river.

If you have conventional gear and a reliable 30-40 foot cast, you might be OK in hip boots. But, it is your call.

      September 23, 2013

  • Nico D.

    I'm definitely interested
