Provo Nights - Lower, Cement steps

Hi Fly Fishers!

Sorry to be out of touch for a bit.  I have been in London for a week and salt water fly fishing in Florida for a week as well.

Since summer and long days are here, the plan is to have a meet-up on the lower Provo each Wednesday night, hopefully casting dry flies to rising fish.  Some of you just need practice casting and getting your drift right and I can help with that too.

Hopefully we won't have too many tubers on a weeknight!

tight lines,

Ed And I Fished the Price River today (Sunday) with little luck. Ed nailed a "One More Cast" Brown Trout to finish not smelling up the car with Skunk. Gail force winds started at 10 a.m. and blew up our skirts till we exited the River happy to be the only humans sliding a fly this day on this Water.

Sounds like a good time. I was able to make it up to the Miracle Mile today on the South Platte in WY. I was headed back from Fort Collins and just kept going north when I hit Laramie. It was freaking cold (40s) and raining. I finally found feeding fish and hooked into one and he broke me off. I rigged a heavier tippet and went back and this time hooked and landed two, 16" and 18", rainbows. After that I called it quits when the rain became heavy.

Oooooh The Mile. Speaking of Gail Force winds... the Mile is notorious for that. Ya, it wasnt setting any thermal records where we were either and Ed fell in twice poor guy. All the while keeping an incredibly joyous disposition.

Tough night. I caught two and Tom did not have has rod with, only an empty case. There will be other nights Tom! Hopefully with a caddis or PMD hatch. I did see a few PMDs tonight so their time is coming!

Hey fly fishers. I pre-fished the spot tonight and it was very tough! It was also very fishable. The water was high but clear. The fish were also feeding but spooked when the rafters came by, which lasted until 6:45. What is cool is that you can easily fish until 9pm! I only caught one tonight, but I had many, many takes, especially on soft hackle. Nymphing - you had to find the lanes and use the right fly and make a good presentation. Dries - there really was no hatch, but fish were occasionally rising, mostly to very small midges. I did get occasional takes on random patterns. Random, because there really wasn't much of a hatch. tried small para Adams and got a few takes. On a PMD, I got no takes and on a red humpy I also got a few takes. The purple soft hackle got many takes, including a giant fish that ran and broke me off. I also caught a nice little brown on the soft hackle.

Anyway, I look forward to seeing those of you who signed up tomorrow night.

Note: Streamflows on the lower Provo are getting higher. I'm going to check it tonight and see if it is still fishable. I may cancel or change the venue if they are too high.
