Potluck at 6:00, Gift Circle at 6:30 - Here is just a random sampling of gifts that have been given and received in the last few months - a laptop, a piano, tires, a snowboard, lots of great books, a surveillance camera to ensure the safety of a young disabled adult, space heaters, beautiful Frye boots, gardening support, Atlas Balancing, and so much more! Not to mention the enriching and life-enhancing relationships that continue to flourish in this ever-expanding group.
The gift economy represents a shift from consumption to contribution, transaction to trust, scarcity to abundance and isolation to community. - Charles Eisenstein
It's so simple and the effects are life-changing. We share a relaxed meal together (potluck, bring your own dinnerware & utensils).
Then we sit in a circle and share 3 things:
1) Who you are & any past experience with Gifting - Newbies are Gifts in Themselves
2) What you want to give - could be surplus items, skills, time, ideas, passion, etc.
3) What you want to receive - this one tends to be tricky for many, as we have a cultivated tendency to be a wee bit in denial our own true needs and desires. And yet, to share them honestly is an honoring of our humanity and opens the door to connection and fulfillment. Plus, Givers have no purpose without Receivers.
Then we visit freely for about 20 minutes or so with your fellow Gifters & Receivers sharing more details and how to connect.
Please contribute a small donation to help cover the $20 fee for this great space provided by Phil Dugas during the chilly months...
It's easy, great fun, and a place where magic becomes everyday reality. Many stories already of people asking for and receiving things they never imagined would come to be - from ping-pong tables to friendships, furniture, Swiss Chard/Kale and even love. Go figure, eh?
