This group is so dedicated I love belonging to it. We had a great time working on bandages and blankies and chatting. We received nine beautiful blankies this week from K, Anne-Marie, and Christina and there are bunches of bandages in various stages of completion. Two ladies stopped by to inquire about the group and I gave them information about how to find us on Meet-up. Hopefully we'll have two new recruits next time. We all missed you, Lizzie! Sorry Erin and Regina couldn't make it either. K, if I don't see you before your vacation I hope you have a fantastic time!

Kay & Carol, I stopped by the HEB across the street on my way home. as I went in I saw a realty office in the front of the store. They had a handwritten sign on a white board that said "Home's for sale". I pointed out their error. When I left I noticed that they had removed the errant apostrophe! Grammar Police Unite!! :)

Erin, if you start over, make sure you chain loosely. It makes it much easier to see if you are twisting the chain and also to crochet into the chain. Sometimes it helps to do your chain with a hook one or two sizes larger than the one you are going to crochet with.

Erin, your piece shouldn't be twisting. I think perhaps you are working too tight. Try to make your stitches a little looser. It is also possible you twisted your chain row when you started to crochet into it. If you are still having trouble email me at CAHETZLER at aol dot com. Perhaps we can get together sometime before the next meetup and I can help you.

Thank you very much. I don't doubt I twisted my chain stitch or that my stitches are too tight. I guess I will continue for a bit & if it doesn't straighten out-i will start over

If you are just doing a straight knit and purl blanket, casting on 80 should be about right.

Thank you. I am trying my luck at Crochet-but the piece is twisting. Is that normal for crochet?

      October 12, 2013

  • Carol

Erin, which blankets are you looking at making? That will determine how many you cast on or chain.

Its the baby blankets for the children's hospital. When I googled it said about 80. Think its slightly over 2ft wide

Lizzie, we'll miss you terribly, but we can carry on without you if you want. No problem for me to host that week.

How many stitches am I to cast on to knit the baby blanket? How many to crochet one? Thanks!

Girls--- I just realized that I have a business conference from 9am-5pm on this date. Do y'all still want to meet and hang out or would you prefer if I reschedule? I personally think it's awesome if y'all get together anyway-- but want to honor your preference. (We would have to wait until November )

It doesn't matter to me if you're not there--we'd sure miss you, but we can still work. Let me know if the meet for the 26th is still on. Take care.

I can still make it on that day, but I'll miss you too! I'm busy Nov. 2 & 9, but could make any other weekend in Nov.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
