Talk Description:

A place for everything, and everything in it's place. We'll discuss tips and strategies for improving organization and avoiding code bloat.

One challenge of starting a large Sass project is determining how to divide styles into partials. What should go into each partial? How is the folder structure going to be set up? How are the partials going to be imported?

When working in a team it is incredibly important that other team members can not only find the styles they are looking for, but also understand where they should add new styles. A well designed file structure, and an adherence to OO(S)CSS will help create a project that is easy to manage and maintain.

The topic is focused on Sass, but Sass experience is not required. Good code organization applies to all code :)

Bring your laptop and stick around after the meetup for open time to code with other meetup members. We'll also have some tabletop games (bring some if you'd like) and ping pong for those who would rather just play.

Parking and Directions

The Weston Centre is at 112 E Pecan St, but the parking garage is on the west side (Soledad St). Head up the "Public Parking" ramp. When you leave, the gate will be open for exit and you won't have to pay anything.

From the garage, take the elevator to the ground floor. Go through two sets of double doors and enter the main large foyer. The elevators are ahead on the left, and Geekdom is on the 11th floor. Ignore the sign that says that Geekdom has moved.

Although I've been using SASS for a while now, I learned so much about organizing CSS in your project. Wonderful and helpful presentation!

Entry level Ember talk, that's perfect! I'm moving back to San Antonio this August. Hope to make it out to this meeting with some regularity.

Sorry Jim, the Ember talk has been moved back a month. Hopefully the new topic is still applicable :-)

Yes, certainly sounds interesting. Sadly I'm back in Florida this week wildly packing junk for a 2nd U-Haul experience. I'm gonna make it to a meeting soon Kevin!
