Work day on the land

Star Fire Adventure camp is coming to life on a corner of land in the Hill Country near the historic small town of Sisterdale.

Star Fire Adventure Camp for Grownups is an environmentally sustainable camp hosting educational and recreational experiences for adults to inspire greater appreciation of nature and sustainable living and to foster imagination and the development of creative skills.

We’ll be clearing campsites, marking trails, spreading mulch, preventing erosion and planting native seeds. This is an ongoing project for the camp which will open in Spring of 2013. Come ready to work outdoors and help us restore the land.

To those who visited Santuario Sisterfarm, we’re about 6 miles down the road from there.

Food will be provided.

We accomplished all the tasks we set ourselves, in spite of a small attendance, and it was a beautiful day!

Remember to bring work gloves if you can, and bring a sweater - it might be chilly, but good working outdoors weather. Forecast is for decreasing clouds and upper 50s.

I was trying to arrange for someone to give a brief presentation about permaculture at this meetup, but it so far has not materialized. If anyone would like to give a little talk at this Saturday's meetup or one in the future, please let me know!

I would love to help can I bring my 2 boys ages 14 and 16. They need community service hours.

Thank you for the offer of help! Because the camp is presently a for-profit business, working here probably wouldn't qualify for community service hours.
